Camp Cabin Time...

Tonight we finish our week at summer camp.  What a great week we've had.  Our theme has been "The Way of The Cross" as we've been journeying through the passion week.  Tonight, after spending twenty-four hours on the topic of loss with the crucifixion, we arrived at the resurrection and the topic of hope.  After a great evening gathering, lead by our speaker, Johnny Scott, we moved into cabin time for further discussion.  I joined a cabin of mostly sixth grade boys for this part of the evening and honestly, the conversation was going pretty well.  Then, this question pops up at random...

"If a Christian commits suicide, does he go to heaven?"

I love junior high boys!  They make me laugh with their awkwardly placed amazing questions.

Staring up (again)...

I started this blog a few years ago when I was with a bunch of junior high pastor friends and it quickly became apparent that I was not ready to join the blogging world.  Today is a new day, so I think I'll give it another try.

I've been doing middle school ministry for over twenty years and along the way one of the things I've discovered I like to do is talk about ministry with other people who are doing it.  Early in my ministry an older youth worker took me under his wing and encouraged me when things were hard as well as cheered me on in the day to day.  My hope is that this blog will do the same for a few out there who don't have face to face contact with other youth workers who can fill this role.
